AMERIPAC OPINION
AmeriPAC Blog Posts:December 09, 2011, 08:02 AM If the United States wants to help Europe find a way out of its current debt crisis, we must be a strong, world economic leader, not merely the lender of last resort. American taxpayers sent $40 billion to Greece last year, through the International Monetary Fund, to stave off an economic collapse. But the bailout did not prevent Greece's day of fiscal reckoning. It only delayed it. Austerity measures are still needed throughout Europe's socialized economy and the debt contagion has not been stopped. Financial chaos has spread from Greece to Ireland, Portugal, Italy and Spain, and it now threatens the very future of the 17-member euro zone. Undeterred, President Obama last month told the press after breaking from a closed-door meeting with European leaders, "the United States stands ready to do our part to help them resolve this issue." He would do better to focus his attention stateside. The most dangerous threat to the U.S. economy is not across the pond. It's in the swampland of Washington, D.C. November 01, 2011, 02:45 PM Democrats on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction last week floated a proposal that includes massive tax increases on wealthy Americans. While their plan would also include some cuts to entitlement programs, the tax-code changes make up a significant portion, according to press reports. The Los Angeles Times reported: “Revenue would be raised mostly by bumping up the high-end tax bracket and limiting deductions for upper-income earners, those familiar with the talks said.” This isn’t exactly a surprise. President Obama and his liberal allies in Congress are waging a … October 20, 2011, 10:19 PM The media shouldn’t use the killing of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi to turn President Barack Obama into a hero, Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show Thursday. On announcing reports of Gadhafi’s death, some news announcers suggested Obama deserved some credit. Limbaugh said he predicted the news media’s reaction and played a clip from his show in March — where he said that would be the response — to prove it. October 17, 2011, 08:44 AM Fox News host Bill O'Reilly gives President Obama high marks for fighting terrorism during his first 1,000 days in office, but a dismal and failing grade on managing the nation's economy. In his Friday night's "Talking Points Memo," O'Reilly offers a damning list of facts that "will take your breath away." March 29, 2011, 01:39 AM Some of the most disgruntled folks in Washington these days are conservative Republicans in Congress. They believe their party has abandoned the cause of deep spending cuts that spurred the Republican landslide in the 2010 midterm election. They say their leaders are needlessly settling for small, incremental cuts. January 19, 2011, 06:55 PM Is there a new Cold War developing between China and the United States? That's a question hovering over President Hu Jintao and his entourage as they come to Washington to discuss military, trade, and financial flash points with the Obama administration. January 18, 2011, 05:47 PM Left-wing attempts to restrict free speech aren't new. Even before the Tucson shooting, a recently defeated Ohio congressman asked government to punish a pro-life group because he didn't like their ads criticizing his voting record. His position is such an offense to freedom that even the liberal American Civil Liberties Union weighed in on behalf of pro-lifers. November 08, 2010, 04:47 PM In their postmortems of the 2010 elections, many in the Senate Republican establishment have placed the blame for their inability to regain the majority on Senator Jim DeMint’s principled pre-election endorsements. Once again these establishment elites are wrong. Immediately following the election of President Barack Obama, the Republican establishment sent out word that the only way out of their “electoral abyss” was to nominate more moderate candidates. November 04, 2010, 07:34 PM Politics can turn on the proverbial dime, especially in this age of the 24/7 news cycle. Obama, who (figuratively) could walk on water just two short years ago, now acknowledges his party has taken a "shellacking." His own policies played no small part in that. As disgusted as Middle America is with the Democrats, they are not necessarily enthralled with the Republicans — but are willing to give them one more chance. October 18, 2010, 12:58 PM This week, President Obama is spending some time in California trying to rescue the political fortunes of his most bitterly partisan Senate ally seeking re-election in 2010. The United States Senate throughout its history has had its share of cantankerous iconoclasts. Most of them — despite negative personality traits — had something to offer in the way of accomplishment or intellect. Alas — after nearly three decades on Capitol Hill — Barbara Boxer remains in search of a cogent reason to add another six years to that resume. Read and Comment on All OPINION Article Here. |
